Dinsmore & Shohl's Matthew Kingery selected as Co-Chair for "Generation Charleston"

January 30, 2008

Matthew Kingery, of Dinsmore & Shohl LLP, was recently selected as the co-chair of "Generation Charleston." This newly formed group was launched by the Charleston Area Alliance to attract young professionals dedicated to improving their community.

Kingery was formerly the principal co-chair of the Housing Committee for "Generation Charleston" and was asked to help take the group to the next level by becoming one of the organization's leaders. The group of young professionals includes nearly 400 members who devote their time to community concerns such as public service projects, downtown housing options, professional and social networking, and non-profit board services.

A number of local businesses and non-profit organizations have already sponsored several "Generation Charleston" events and made contributions to the organization. Most recently, Wal-Mart donated $2,500 to the group at an event attended by Governor Joe Manchin.

"Over the next year, we will provide incentives to come back to the state by working with local leaders on community projects, helping shape policy, and providing resources on the web. The costs of these things will defray some of the funds that we're receiving from groups like Wal-Mart," Kingery said.
