Louisville is best known as the home of Churchill Downs and the Kentucky Derby; however, it is also recognized as one of the nation's best places to work and play. The region offers unique and historic neighborhoods, along with 2,500 restaurants. The beautiful Waterfront Park, the Louisville Slugger Museum and the Kentucky Derby Museum blend old with new. The Kentucky Center for the Arts, the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival, the Louisville Science Center, the Louisville Zoo, Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom and the University of Louisville are all nearby. Baseball fans can cheer on the Louisville RiverBats, the AAA team of the Cincinnati Reds.

The world-renowned University of Louisville Medical Center is the first medical facility to successfully perform artificial heart and hand transplants. In addition to the University of Louisville, it is also home to Bellarmine and Spalding Universities. The area has excellent schools with a nationally recognized magnet public school program which emphasizes a variety of interests and education.
