Mindy G. Barfield is a Partner in the Litigation Department. Mindy practices in the area of complex commercial litigation, with a focus on defending businesses in contract-related and business torts litigation and complex insurance coverage and bad faith litigation. Her practice includes the litigation of disputes arising from commercial contracts, including coal supply contracts between coal companies and/or with electric utilities; coal leases between mineral owners and coal or mining companies; loans, mortgages and guarantees; vendor contracts; joint venture contracts; licenses; franchise agreements; employment agreements; and independent contractor agreements. Mindy also defends clients in cases involving breach of fiduciary duty; fraud; misrepresentation; conversion; and interference with a contractual relationship or prospective advantage. She has substantial experience in advising insurance clients and litigating disputes involving insurance policies, particularly those involving complex coverage disputes or allegations of common law or statutory bad faith.
