Richard H.C. Clay is a Partner in the Litigation Department and serves as the firm's Kentucky Ethics Partner. Dick practices in the areas of complex litigation, pharmaceutical and medical device litigation, appellate practice and administrative law. He has represented corporate clients and individuals in federal and state constitutional issues, class actions, defamation actions, business and contract disputes, trademark infringements, business interruption and interference, enforcement of non-competition agreements, lender liability actions, breach of fiduciary duty issues, Equal Credit Opportunity Act actions, Fair Credit Reporting Act actions, civil rights actions and will contests. He has tried over 75 jury trials in state and federal court. He has argued over 30 appeals in the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the Kentucky Supreme Court and the Kentucky Court of Appeals. He serves as Kentucky counsel for several major pharmaceutical companies confronting nation-wide claims.
